Osteopathy – Healing with your hands
Osteopathy is a holistic manual therapy to find and treat the causes for movement and functional disorders. More than 120 years ago, the American doctor A. T. Still set up the 4 principles that are the foundation for osteopathy until now.
- Every human being is an entirety.
- The body can heal itself.
- Structure and function correlate with each other.
- The osteopath uses the first 3 principles for his examination and treatment.
For us doctors, osteopathy is considered to be the encompassing therapy for body, mind and soul because of its holistic approach. The self-healing powers of the body play an essential role and always try to bring about the best state of health.
If the mobility of individual organs and tissues is limited, their normal function will be impacted. If the body is no longer capable to compensate, the person will become ill and experience pain and movement and functional disorders. The techniques of osteopathy can alleviate the effects. With our very skilled hands, we’re able to feel the disorders in the tissue. These can be removed so that the body can activate its self-healing powers again.

High-Level osteopathy training for the safety of our patients
Currently, “osteopathy” and “osteopath” are no protected terms in Germany. The person using osteopathic treatment must be a medical doctor or an alternative practitioner (“Heilpraktiker”) who are allowed to practice medicine. Physiotherapists are not permitted to use osteopathic treatments. In the U.S. osteopathy is a full medical university course.
Dr. med. Sylvia Pauli and Dr. med. Eva Wörenkämper have been trained on the basis of the DAAO (German-American academy for osteopathy). Together with the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) and in cooperation with the MWE (Training institute for manual therapy in Isny, Germany) the DAAO hat set up a curriculum which is based on the concepts of American medical schools for osteopathy. This guarantees a high-level quality of training, permanent updates based on scientific research and the integration of new developments and methods. Dr. med. Eva Wörenkämper fulfils the requirements (qualified doctor, training for manual medicine/Chirotherapy and the certificate of the DAAO). Dr. Sylvia Pauli even carries the title of Doctor of Osteopathy D.O. (DAAO®, EROP™), the additional qualifications of sport osteopathy and osteopathy for pregnant women.
Both doctors are listed with the DAAO (www.daao.info).
Many health insurances will cover or partially pay for the osteopathic treatment, depending on the contract you have with your health insurance. Should you require any documents from us, please let us know.
